WATCH: Feminine & Masculine Energy

Jan 21, 13 WATCH: Feminine & Masculine Energy

Posted by in Blog

This is a great introductory video about the different masculine and feminine energies that surround us.  If you are experiencing any kind of blockage in your life, it can usually be traced back to one of these areas.  I know after watching the video you will be able to immediately identify people in your own life who have too much or too little of these energies.  Its easy to see. It always takes a balance of masculine and feminine energy to create.  Whether its a baby or a business idea, a garden, a paper your writing, or even a social movement, creation always has a better successes when these two kinds of energy are in harmony.    Watch and see which ones are present or missing in your life. FYI, Ian is a Tantric coach, so thats the angle of his perspective in this video, but the concepts easily apply across a number of different modalities. Watch this video on...

Sweet Hanging Squash!

Jan 18, 13 Sweet Hanging Squash!

I saw this picture on Pinterest today, and I had to write a quick blog post about it!  I actually tried a simplified version of this in my own garden last year.  You can actually train most veggies to go up a trellis – saving you TONS of space in your garden.  I was successful with watermelon and cucumbers, but as you can see with this picture you can do it with tons of other plants including squash, pumpkins, eggplants and more! As I said, this saved me so much space in my garden, but it also improved the condition of a lot of the produce as well because it wasn’t laying on the ground.  My cucs, all had really great shape and colour was lovely all around the entire fruit.  It can also prevent leaves from getting many moulds and bacterial infections because they don’t get as wet laying around at ground level.  My garden starts right at the edge of my house and extends out into the lawn, so I planted all my “vine” plants at the back with trellis’s leaning up against the wall, and then my smaller bush plants, (beans, carrots etc.) in the front.  It makes a beautiful 3D garden with tons of veggies in a small tight space.  (Just make sure you have healthy soil!) Another favorite product of mine for growing ‘upward’ are the woolly pockets.  If you haven’t seen them before, and you like gardening – you are going to LOVE them.  They are waterproof pockets that allow you to grow vertical gardens not only outside – but inside too!  They make gorgeous living walls in homes, but are also being used by community gardens in inner cities where they have limited space.  The pockets allow planting to go several rows up.  Personally, I wouldn’t put large plants in them, because I think there would be limited soil nutrition available over the life of your plant, but for herbs, strawberries, radishes, or small bush beans –...

Baby Making Time! Detoxing for Conception

Jan 15, 13 Baby Making Time! Detoxing for Conception

Posted by in Blog

Spring, Fall, New Years, there is a detox for all seasons, but one of the best times to do a detox is before trying to conceive .  A detoxification program helps to rid the body of any toxins from the environment, foods or general bad habits that people may have.  It’s not only good for mom but for baby-to-be too. When my husband and I were ready to start trying for our son, I went ahead and charted my cycle for several months to make sure I was ovulating “normally”.  I did all my blood work and had an Electro-Dermal test performed for my hormones.  Sounds a little “eager beaver” since I had no indication of having any problems conceiving and had a normal cycle. But, I had listened to person after person discuss with me their issues conceiving, and at my age of 32,  I did not want to wait a year to find out if anything was wrong.  So I stopped drinking alcohol months before, did a mild cleanse, and started trying to get my hormonal cycle in line with the lunar cycle. I also upped my cardio workouts and cleaned up my diet where I felt it needed improving.  The next month our son was conceived.  Although I do not know if all that was totally necessary for me to do to get pregnant and have a healthy full term pregnancy, I’m sure it helped. There are cases of seemly healthy women and men sometimes having issues conceiving.  Even their doctor cannot find anything medically wrong with them.  Sometimes it can be as “simple” as cleaning up your diet, environment and lifestyle, along with a good cleanse.  Don’t forget to take your husband (male partner) a long for the ride, as their sperm needs to be in tiptop shape as well. There are some general tips to help gear-up your baby making bodies but the most important one is to never forget why you are having a baby and why you want...

Chakras – A Truth…

Jan 09, 13 Chakras – A Truth…

Posted by in Blog

Chakras are an amazing segment of the spirituality and holistic health field.  For thousands of years, many ancient cultures practiced medicine and spiritual development using this concept of the human body.  Despite the massive amount of information and anecdotal evidence proving chakra work to be effective – I’ve been on the fence about it.  It just seemed very… ambiguous to me.  I was hung up on understanding how these areas were physically manifested in the body.  Especially since the locations of some chakra centres seemed to be in somewhat vague locations when compared to our organ systems.  I was also left unfulfilled when identifying a causal link between chakra centres and associated changes in our personality, emotions and attitudes.  I just couldn’t see how it all fit together.  Until now. As you can see from the images and the chart that I’ve included in this post, the chakra centres each occupy different areas of the body, and are responsible for different feelings and psychological responses in our life.  Scientifically, how can this be?  After years of casually observing this field of study, I came across a YouTube video that blasted open the doors of understanding.  The title of the video wasn’t hiding anything, it was called: ‘Your Glands are the Chakras’.  At each chakra centre, (the purple, blue, orange etc. circles,) there are actually glands in our body that release hormones and chemicals that tell our body what to do.  This instantly resonated for me, and I can give you a great example to explain why. The red or ROOT chakra is located lowest in our body. Among other things it is considered to govern Fear.  When I look back at my life there have been occasions where I have felt a “flood of fear”, or a moment of terror, and I would absolutely describe it as a sensation spreading upwards into my gut ‘like a wave’ and then down into my legs, like a cold weakness that makes you ‘weak in the knees’....

The Power Of Pure Essential Oils

Jan 07, 13 The Power Of Pure Essential Oils

Oregano, thyme, basil, marjoram and peppermint; what do you think of when you hear these names? I think of herbs and spice; I can smell the basil, peppermint and thyme leaves all grown in my garden. The wonderful taste and aromatic smell of each distinct herb are delicious additions to make a special dish for dinner. But the value of herbs goes beyond taste. Herbs are very good for us and so are the oils. Have you ever heard of using Oregano oil to help you ward off colds and flu? People swear by it and use it especially through the winter months. It is actually a powerful antimicrobial essential oil that assists the body to eliminate viruses and bacteria from cells. Peppermint on the other hand, supports the digestive system, and research has shown that inhaling peppermint improves concentration and the retention of information. It has also helped relieve me of sinus issues so I can breathe again and has provided relief for my headaches. Aromatherapy, as defined by Roberta Wilson, “is the practice of using naturally extracted essences of aromatic plants to promote the health and well-being of your body, mind, and emotions.  These essences, called essential oils, contain the vital life force of fragrant botanical plants……They can restore balance and harmony to your body and mind, while adding depth, dimension, and definition to your life.” In my practice I use Young Living Essential Oils which are 100% pure and natural and very potent. They pack a punch and provide a cocktail of aroma to the senses – plus they have all those natural, incredible, healing properties.  I have begun using these oils in The Raindrop Technique, a particular technique created by Young Living.  Eight essential oils:  oregano, thyme, basil, marjoram, peppermint, valor, wintergreen and cypress are applied to the feet and along the spine. The oils absorb into the body and spread throughout the nervous system.  Each oil has its own amazing benefits and together they combine to supply a wonderful aroma and healing...
